Healing Meditation – The Ending of Fear
It’s best if you try it when you just wake up (early morning) or before sleep. You may be crying: where did all tension and frustration go?
- You can focus on the breath for a few minutes to gathering your attention.
- Observe whether any thought lingering in your head.
- Now let your awareness leave the head and expend to the silent space. Some thoughts may still try to pull down your attention into the head, but gently keep your attention in the space. Feel the totality of the space.
You still can hear some noises here and there: the wind, the cars passing by, the sea waves… but you’re centering in the silent space. Relax in the space. You may hear more subtle noises. Few thoughts still float up. Surrender everything that moves in the field, including thoughts and feelings. Relax in the silent space…
Open your eyes when the alarm rings. What have you experienced?
Do you find your body is relaxing naturally? Tension, difficult feeling, or pain in the body may disappear completely. Is your mind more silent naturally?
Do you feel full of vitality and subtle joy after this period?
After one morning meditation, I used to think: Wow, there is no need for any vocation or retreat! A new trust, a new kind of love for life was arising. Indescribable.
We are so obsessed with matter, including our body and its sensation and emotions. That’s why we are so much afraid of difficult feelings and painful emotions. We are not aware of something that is more powerful in the subtle world. That is your field of awareness, the silent space that you barely pay attention to. Some meditation teachers called this silent space “your Being”.
I believe this space is also referred to as “the Tao” in Tao Te Ching: “The Master keeps her mind always at one with the Tao; that is what gives her her radiance.”
Experiment with this meditation and see. Just experiencing a moment of freedom is enough to gain incredible strength in you. You’re no long burdened by fear. Now your consciousness can fly! Your energy can be used to move towards happy exploration and creation.
