Want it vs. Truly do it
Recently, I asked my Zen Teacher: “How can someone goes into the world but not “gets wet” (I meant getting dirty)
He replied:
“If you truly go into the world, you’ll get everything.
But if you want something, you’ll only get dukkha.”
(In Buddhism, dukkha means unsatisfactoriness or suffering.)
I understood what he said. When we want something outside, we want to take it.
When we want a result but don't enjoy the process (the doing) is also a kind of taking.
And we fail. The real energy is missing.
When we truly do something because we are passionate about it, we offer our energy to the world.
And that is the foundation for our success.
